How to Do Keyword Research in Baidu Ads

Search engines like Google and Baidu keep evolving with all the algorithm updates, but one thing has stayed consistent for all search marketers whether they plan to launch an organic optimization campaign or a paid advertising campaign: keyword research.

Keyword research is the process of reading people’s minds – using the keyword research tools to find out what people actually input in the search boxes of search engines to get the information they need. The insights will help you have a better understand of your target customers, and create content that meets their intents.

How to do keyword research in Baidu

Baidu is China’s leading search engine. You can consider it China’s Google. The process of keyword research in Baidu Ads is very similar to that in Google Ads.

First, you need a Baidu advertising account. If you don’t have one yet, you could contact us to help you get one.

1 – Login

Once you have the account ready, log into your account. You can use the web version or the desktop client.

2 – Go to the keyword planner

Once you log in, click Search Campaigns to go to the search campaign section of the panel.

Now go to the Baidu Keyword Planner. There you can find some very useful features.

3 – Input the keyword and click search

You may already have some important keywords or even a seed keyword list that you have prepared by brainstorming with your colleagues.

Now input the keywords in Baidu Keyword Planner, and get the keyword suggestions as well the detailed search volume and competition data.

Click Export, and save the keyword list files locally.

4 – Review the results

Now you may have one or several long keyword lists. You can review and cut down the keyword lists based on your project.

And … You’re done!

Hooray! Now you have done your first Chinese keyword research task and got the proper keywords for your project.
